the pisces 21: builder comments

It has been said that to understand where you are going, you must first look at where you have been.

When I reflect on my past, I realize that I have been involved with just about every aspect of sailing….From discovering the simple pleasures of sailing as a youth on the coast of Maine to more adventurous racing, cruising and single hand ocean passages as a young adult. In time my fascination grew and I became more and more involved with boat design and building. Now, as a ‘middle aged’ boat builder, I find myself trying to answer one, perhaps not so simple question: "What if I could have but one boat… One that would teach me and forgive my mistakes, one that would always stir an emotion every time …One that my family and I will always feel safe in and one that I will proudly pass on to the next generation?".

Modern technology has changed the way that we live our lives. Many of the things we do have become automated allowing us to get things done much quicker than before. Manufacturing has moved towards mass production aimed at fulfilling lower cost ‘instant gratification’ goods that are short lived or disposable. In time, we realize that some things just cannot be rushed. Our craftsmen and I take great pride in spending the meticulous hours and attention to every detail required to create an exquisite and functional little yacht that looks as good as it performs and yes; thanks to modern technology will endure more than a lifetime.

It is the extra effort combined with the finest materials and finely honed skills of our craftsmen that makes each Pisces an outstanding little yacht that will retain its value and will leave you wondering what else one could possibly want!

The Pisces 21 is the refinement of a traditional design proving the adage of “the more things change, the more they stay the same”. I sincerely hope that you will soon have the pleasure to rediscover sailing on the most pleasurable boat that I have ever sailed.

See you on the water! Jean Beaulieu, boatbuilder
