CONSTRUCTION: Solid hand layup Fiberglass Hull. Decks are balsa cored hand layup with solid fiberglass in areas of fittings and thru bolting. All laminates use Hydrex Vinylester over highest grade Gelcoat ISO NPG. Decks are thru bolted and glued to a wide hull flange. Extra fiberglass reinforcement can be found in longitudinal stringers, keel and the mast step areas. Optional deep draft (5’) external lead keel with 9 X ¾” #316 stainless steel bolts.
INTERIOR LAYOUT AND FINISH: Center companionway steps descend to a U shaped galley to port with sit down nav station and quarter berth to starboard. All interior cushions are custom fitted Ultra Suede Flag Blue. The Main Cabin has a beautifully crafted bulkhead mounted varnished mahogany folding table . The port “L” shaped settee conveniently converts to a double berth, starboard has a full length settee which also serves as a berth. The fully enclosed head is located forward of the main cabin and is situated athwartship , separating the main cabin and the forward v-berth cabin by traditional oval shaped doors. Forward cabin has a V-Berth with middle filler cushion making a large double berth. The entire interior is beautifully finished with the traditional Herreshoff white bulkheads and varnished mahogany trim. All exposed hull areas are finished with varnished pine trim. Caned locker doors add a lovely touch while simultaneously allowing for air circulation and ventilation in cabinets. The cabin is light and airy with 9 stainless steel Hood opening ports with insect screens and two large Bomar™ opening hatches and many solar or electric fans to better circulate air movement throughout.
DECKS: White gelcoat smooth surfaces with light tan Gelcoat with non skid additive in the traffic areas of decks, house top, cockpit soles and seats. Varnished teak coaming caps, toe rails, trim and house eye brows. Custom fitted fiberglass storm sea hood protects companionway varnish teak and LEXAN™ sliding hatch. Two varnished teak “dorade box” type vents with stainless steel on the house provide ventilation for the galley and nav station. Sturdy custom bow and stern pulpits and double life lines all around with two gates (port & starboard). Offshore companionway canvas dodger with aft braces for grab rail and zipper for sun awning. Highly polished Stainless Steel custom anchor roller with bow chocks and extra foredeck mooring cleats. Oiled teak rub rails bow to stern covered with polish Stainless Steel half oval. Optional custom cast mid ship cleats/ chocks lead into toe rails. Custom insect screens for hatches and companionway. Ensign socket in stern tafrail. Custom stainless steel house top grab rails. Day/Night solar vents for head and aft cockpit lazarette lockers. Bulkhead mounted large compass. Folding deck pad eyes for jack lines.
STANDING AND RUNNING RIGGING: Optional tall double spreader mast with rod rigging and internal halyards (main, genoa, spare genoa and spinnaker). Mast “Runners” with block and tackle. Boom with Lazy Jack system and internal outhaul tackle, continuous “jiffy” reefing system for two reef points leading aft into cockpit. All spars are aluminum and provided by HALL™ painted Awlgrip™ white. Spinnaker pole with stowage on deck and all rigging for spinnaker including secondary Lewmar™ 30 CST self-tailing cockpit winches. Inboard blade jib track with adjustable car. Most running rigging lines leads aft to rope clutches and winches (two LEWMAR™ #16 CST) at aft end of the house into cockpit. Extra large primary Lewmar™ Ocean 44 CST two speed self tailing genoa winches. Winch handles; 2 Lewmar (single hand), 1 double hand and one short aluminum. Adjustable Harken™ genoa ball bearing car on track. Removable inner forestay for storm jib and extra external luff track for main storm trysail. Hall carbon Quick Vang™ B12 for main boom support. Harken™ Unit 1 MKII head sail roller furling system. Navtec™ 10 hydraulic back stay adjustor. Back stay insulators for SSB antenna. EQUIPMENT: Dodger, outboard motor mount on stern rail, lee cloth for all berths, EPIRB, builder’s spare parts kit, companionway drop board insect screening, BRUCE 30# anchor with 200 feet of rode and 50 feet of chain. Fortress FX-23 anchor in a bag with 12 feet of chain. Storm anchor rode 300’ X 9/16” min a mesh bag. Full set of large HTM fenders with fleece covers and miscellaneous hardware (plumbing and electrical).
CANVAS: Dodger with little use with zip on full cockpit awning. Main cover (approx 2007), port light covers (inside), custom canvas covers (Sunshield) for exterior teak (except toe rails & eye brow trim). Main cabin Bomar overhead hatch dodger. Forward cabin Bomar hatch “Windscoop” (rain proof type). Heavy mesh “Lee Cloth” including pockets for all berths. Custom mesh stowage under V-Berth with pockets and in cockpit as well for gear, sunscreen or handhelds.
ENGINE: Yanmar fresh water cooled 2GM 20 HP Diesel (960 approx hours) with RACOR™ secondary fuel filter and raw water engine intake strainer. AQUAMET™ SS shaft and MAX PROP™ 14 X 3 feathering propeller. Upgraded 80 AMP high output alternator with external regulator.
ELECTRONICS: OCKAM™ wind/speed/depth instruments at nav station and on companionway custom bridge with four repeaters. ICOM™ M-59 VHF. FURUNO™ 1621 LCD radar interfaced with GPS on swing out bracket. NORHTSTAR™ 951 XD GPS software upgrade & serviced fall 2009. ICOM™ SSB M-710 single side band radio. AUTOHELM™ 6000+ interfaced with GPS autopilot tiller arm type with mechanical quick release. QUESTUS™ back stay radar and antenna mount brackets.
ELECTRICAL: DC panel upgrade to 24 breakers with master three position battery switch. AC 110 shore power 30 Amps service with panel and 20 amps battery charger. Three 30H Gelcell batteries (400 amps). Tricolor strobe and anchor multi function mast head light. AM/FM with CD player stereo with speakers. HELLA™ Turbo 12 volt fans in four places. Ample cabin lights below (10 plus) including night vision red chart and galley lights. Spreader deck lights, bow & stern pulpit mounted navigation lights. Forward steaming light on mast.
SAILS: UK Sailmaker- mainsail ( fall 1998), 125% Tape Drive Genoa (2007). The following seldom used and all in excellent condition: 155% full hoist Tape Drive Genoa, 90% working jib, “Flasher” cruising spinnaker in sleeve and 2 spinnakers: a .5 oz. and a .75 oz., a storm jib on removable inner stay and storm trisail on its own track.
PLUMBING and MECHANICAL SYSTEMS: New (2009) Rule Gold 3700 main electric bilge pump with auto float switch and manual override. Hot and cold pressure water system for head, galley and cockpit shower with manual foot pumps back up. Whale in line water filter. Holding tank with WEMA™ level indicator and manual or electric pump for overboard or deck pump out. Two manual Whale Gusher™ bilge pumps (diaphragm handle type large capacity 1 ½ hose) in cockpit and also one below at Nav Station bulkhead mounted. Aft deck lazaret propane locker with two bottles and XINTEX™ gas fume monitoring system. Top load ice box and ample stowage lockers with locking doors. Stainless Steel head sink and Raritan manual toilet with Marelon easily accessible seacocks. Set of dishes for 6 including pots and pans.
COMMENTS: “ANDIAMO” Morris 34 Ocean Series hull number one was introduced in Fall of 1998 at the Annapolis International Sailboat Show where she won awards for Cruising World Boat Of The Year , Best in Type (mid-size cruising sail) and the most coveted prize of all Best Boat Overall. This boat is a wonderful example of some of Chuck Paine’s early blue water cruising sailboats combining performance and elegance. She is sensibly appointed, finished to the highest standards and very well maintained by the original owner. All exterior teak woodwork was recently varnished (2 coats Epifanes) fall (2009) and Boot top and cove stripes were painted ( Awlgrip™ ) in the fall of 2008.
